½ C. shortening

1 C. white sugar

1 C. brown sugar

2 eggs

Pinch of salt

2 C. boiling water

½ C. cocoa

2 t. soda

2 t. baking powder

2 C. flour


Ho Ho Frosting for Chocolate Cake


Cook 1 ¼ C. milk with 5 T. flour until thick.  Chill.  Beat ½ C. oleo, 1 C. Crisco and 1 C. sugar until creamy.  Add the chilled milk mixture and spread on cooled cake.  Set aside.



½ C. oleo, melted

4 oz. bar sweet chocolate or cocoa

1 egg

1 t. vanilla

3 C. powdered sugar

2 ½ T. water

Blend all ingredients until creamy and spread on top of cream filling.  May be runny at first.






Chocolate Cake instructions: Mix in order.  Batter will be thin.  Bake at 350-degrees for 38 minutes.

Frost with filling then frosting.
