Amish Church Soup (Baby Soup)Report Violation

We always called it baby soup growing up Amish.
This makes a 20 quart Kettle full:
4 gallons Milk
3 lbs butter
2 quarts cooking navy beans (drained)
7 loaves homemade bread
5 Tablespoons Salt
2 Tablespoons black pepper
Cut all of bread in 1 inch cubes. Fill Kettle 3/4 full with the milk over medium heat. Heat it till hot but don't let boil. Add half of bread cubes.Take 2lbs butter in seperate pan and brown the butter before you add the drained beans. Then brown the beans a little in butter. Next add beans with butter in milk mixture and add rest of bread while simmering over a low heat. Add salt and the pepper. Turn heat off once comes to boil. make sure you have a long handled spoon to constantly stir. To prevent soup from burning. Next take the 1 lb buttery thats left and brown it in a seperate pan. Once it's brown pour over top of kettle of soup and serve.
This is served with red beets and pickles. Along with Amish Peanut Butter spread on homemade bread and a slice of Swiss cheese on top.
